2004 New Hampshire Women & Money Conference:
Light Your Way to Financial Confidence

About the Conference.
The 2004 New Hampshire Women & Money Conference was a free, daylong program on financial education and personal finance for all New Hampshire residents. With 524 participants from 135 cities and towns and a waiting list of over 100, the conference reached full capacity soon after registration began. Jointly presented by the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women and the New Hampshire State Treasurer, the conference was hosted by the Center for Financial Studies at Southern New Hampshire University. Fiscal agency for the conference was provided by the New Hampshire Women's Business Center. The Conference would not have been possible without the support of Fleet Bank, Citizens Bank Foundation, Bank of New Hampshire, and Fidelity Investments.

Why a Women & Money Conference?
The 2004 New Hampshire Women & Money Conference addressed the unique financial challenges of women in today's world.

Women Earn Less.
On average, American women are paid 76 cents for every dollar earned by a man for comparable full-time work. Additionally, women are more likely to work part time and to leave the workforce for extended periods to care for children and elderly parents.

Women Live Longer.
Unique work histories and longer lives leave women with lower pension and social security benefits than their male counterparts. As a result, women make up 75 percent of all elderly Americans living in poverty.

Who comprised the Women & Money Conference?
