Governor's Arts Awards
The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, in cooperation with the New Hampshire Governor's Office, presents the Governor's Arts Awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support, and availability of the arts in New Hampshire.
Lifetime Fellows
Artists who received three Fellowships are designated Lifetime Fellows.
Poet Laureate
The position of New Hampshire Poet Laureate was created in 1967. The poet is appointed approximately every three to four years by the Governor of New Hampshire, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council. Nominations are provided by the Poetry Society of New Hampshire.
Artist Laureate
While many states have poet laureates, New Hampshire is unique in having an Artist Laureate. The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts is charged with recommending artists' names to the Governor every two years. The Governor selects one to honor as artist laureate.
Special Events
The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts holds special events to feature and support individual artists. Check the “What’s New” box on our home page for current information.
