Creative Aging Workshops offered to NH Teaching Artists

Creative Aging programs engage older adults in active arts learning.  Senior service centers, health sites, arts/ community groups and libraries are looking for teaching artists who can design and deliver effective programs for an aging population. The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and Lifetime Arts are teaming up with two great partner sites in Lebanon and Concord.  Learn about current research on arts and aging, see what’s different about adult learning, analyze best practices, explore how your arts education expertise forms a strong basis for working with older adults.

In these workshops, Maura O’Malley, CEO and Co-founder of Lifetime Arts and Annie Montgomery, Master Teaching Artist at Lifetime Arts will introduce teaching artists to the field of creative aging. Lifetime Arts has developed and implemented training workshops for Creative Aging Programs, libraries and teaching artists nationally.  Lifetime Arts is currently partnering with twenty major library systems, including Portland Public Library, on the Creative Aging in America’s Public Libraries Project. One of the goals of the workshop is to introduce interested artists to the emerging field of Creative Aging.

The workshops will include:

• Best Practices in Creative Aging
• Teaching Artists Qualities and Qualifications
• Designing & Facilitating Creative Aging Programs
• Curriculum Development & Social Engagement Strategies
• Nuts & Bolts of Program Implementation

Creative Aging Workshop #1: Open to NH AIE/AIH Roster & teaching artists with experience in educational settings.
