Craig
Stockwell, painter - various media, Keene
Craig Stockwell describes his work method in terms of confining
himself to the limitations that have evolved in his art over
time, noting that his focus is on "the results possible
from a committed relationship defined by boundaries."
He starts with arbitrary patterns and develops color and space
based on his self-imposed rules.
Stockwell's
painting The Grief of Man
was given the E. R. Aubrey Award winner for painting at the
52nd Annual New Hampshire Art Association Exhibition. He currently
teaches at Keene State College. Stockwell's first solo show
in Boston took place this past May, 2002. The New Hampshire
State Council on the Arts Fellowship will allow him more time
to seek out exhibit opportunities and help to alleviate the
costs associated with materials, framing and publicity.
