Suzanne Hayles, dancer and choreographer, Warren, New Jersey (formerly of Concord, NH)

Suzanne Hayles founded Hayles and Company Dance in 1983 with the goal of increasing public awareness of modern dance. The company toured throughout the state as roster members of AIE, the Touring Arts program, and the Rural Arts program. A member of the AIE roster as an individual artist since 1981, Hayles worked with thousands of school children throughout the state, and continued as visiting artist after moving to New York in 1990. The Company has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the State Arts Council, in addition to Hayles' three Individual Artist Fellowships. This support helped expand the Company's repertoire and support dancers during the rehearsal process and collaborations with musicians, directors, visual artists, and choreographers.
