2003 Governors Arts Awards
Individual
Arts Patron Award
created by Sculptor and conceptual eco-artist Tim Gaudreau
Tim Gaudreau received an MFA from the Maine College of Art and
a BFA from the University of New Hampshire. He is a 2003 State
Arts Council Fellow. Gaudreau is passionate about the natural
world and the responsibility he feels as an artist to advocate
for environmental preservation. Gaudreau quotes Thoreau's
Walden, "Not till we are lost, in other words, not till
we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and
realize where we are and the infinite extent of our relations." He recognizes the creation of art as one of the most powerful
vehicles to express social commentary that inspires meaningful
conversation about important issues.
